Support healthy gut in dogs with Moro Carrot Soup Recipe

A hundred years ago, the paediatrician Ernst Moro, working as the head of a children’s hospital in Heidelberg, discovered that cooked carrots reduced diarrhoea-induced infant mortality by nearly half in his study sample. It is now a scientifically proven remedy against diarrhoea. It also works for dogs and can be adjusted to specific needs.

If your pet has a chronic Gastro-Intestinal problem, you may want to see Iris for advice on what specific herbs and spices could be added to its diet to try and help ease the condition. Additionally, choosing the correct protein source for the individual case is very important. We have used a special recipe in diagnosed giardia cases and the patients tested negative afterwards.

Please always see your first line vet for serious cases of diarrhoea. In mild cases you can try Moro Carrot Soup and even add a little bit of cinnamon and ginger.

Moro Carrot Soup Recipe

Cook 500g carrots in 1000ml water for at least 1 hour (up to 1.5h). Leave to cool and puree. Divide into batches and freeze at least half of them. Store the remaining portions in the fridge ready for use.

Feed 3 days longer than problems persist or as directed in the herbal consult. It works well alongside the usual home-cooked or prescription GI-diets. Please note, Moro Soup alone is not a complete diet.

If digestion worsens, please stop. In that case, do not use raw carrot in diet.

The recipe above is enough for a 10 kg dog for 8 days or a 20 kg dog for 4 days. So, in this way, you would feed 1/8th of the recipe per day to a 10kg dog or 1/4 of the recipe per day to a 20kg dog. Ideally, Carrot Moro Soup would be offered over several small meals a day.
