Andreas dreamt of becoming a vet for as long as he can remember. Though born and bred in a largish industrial city in Germany, he always wanted to treat all kinds of animals, large and small. After graduating in 2001 from Justus-Liebig-University, Giessen, Germany he spent three years researching a viral disease in cattle and pigs, achieving a doctorate in veterinary medicine in 2007. Since 2005 he has been working as a mixed practice vet and, since 2017, he has been locuming, mainly in small animal practice.
Andreas joined A. P. Vet ltd. as an employee in 2017 and became a partner in 2019. Alongside this, one of his locum jobs became a permanent part-time job in a small animal practice in Herefordshire, keeping him up to date with advancements in both conventional and holistic veterinary practice.
Within A.P. Vet, he excels when it comes to nutrition. If you want to make your own dog or cat food, he can do the maths for you, ensuring you achieve the optimum nutritional balance for your pet. Andreas is also trained in acupuncture and happy to combine a Western veterinary approach
alongside the gentler holistic approach to ensure your animal receives the level of care you desire for them.
At home, Andreas considers himself to be a “cat person” but as his family house, the base of A.P.Vet ltd., is on a main road he now keeps guinea pigs in the large nature-orientated garden he loves and cares for. The feverfew in our herb store was harvested from the herb spiral Andreas designed, built, and planted.
