Permanent Acupuncture explained by our vet in her latest article!

Learn about Gold Bead Implants, a form of permanent acupuncture, from our vet Iris in GSDL Magazine!

Iris meets one of her German Shepherd patients for a pre-op assessment for Permanent Acupuncture.

Our Vet, Iris Ege, has been to Germany where she carried out pre-op checks for two very-German Shepherds! She is going back to do the procedure in July, we will keep you posted. Iris has been interested, for many years, in exploring the role of Gold Bead Implants, a type of permanent acupuncture. When first being established, the procedure was used in treating hip dysplasia in the German Shepherd breed. Over the years the conditions that are treated have broadened and all breeds and even cats are treated.

Back home in the UK Iris sees a varied clientele including owners with smaller and much lighter crossbreeds. Unfortunately both bad hips and bad elbows are common in cockapoo’s like Ozzy. To find out about what his family says about the outcome please have a look at their testimonial:

Take a look at her article in the Autumn 2025 Issue of the German Shepherd Dog League Magazine (Issue 41, page 48) for an insight into this procedure. Find out how permanent acupuncture is showing positive outcomes for animals with hip, elbow, stifle and spinal issues as well as other conditions like epilepsy and urinary incontinence.
